KME RAISES MONEY FOR CONFERENCES IN HONOR OF PI DAY
KME members held a PENNY WAR contest the week of March 9 - 12 in honor of PI DAY. Total amount raised was $306.51. There were five "winners": Dr. Betsy Yanik, Dr. Schrock, Dr. Joe Yanik, Dr. Harrell and Dr. Hollenbeck.
Students were randomly selected to give the winner a WHIPPED CREAM PIE in the face. Dr. Hollenbeck, who's jar collected the most pennies was given a special prize of a chocolate "pi" by James Drake, who made a substantial donation to the worthy cause. Kappa Mu Epsilon Reunion 2009
KME Reunion was held Feb 27th at 5 PM at the home of Drs. Joe and Betsy Yanik. Honored guests were Dr. Marion Emerson, Dr. George Downing, and Dr. John Gerriets. Althought many of the previous KME members were unable to attend, many should their support and enthusiasm for KME by sending us emails, letters, and pictures. Some members also attended the play "Glass Menagerie" and/or watched the Hornet's basketball game(s).
In addition, Dr George Poole, Professor of Mathematics at East Tennessee University will be presenting "What Makes Elementary Teachers Great Mathematics Teachers" at 4:00 PM in SH 247.
Dr. Elizabeth Yanik selected as 2007 Roe R. Cross Distinguished Professor
The Roe R. Cross Distinguished Professor Award is given to the ESU professor
who best demonstrates teaching excellence, professional activities, fostering of
intellectual atmosphere, service to the university outside the classroom, and status
as a student mentor. The award includes $1,000 to be used for professional activities.
