Competitions
Students have the opportunity to participate in various collegiate-level mathematics competitions.
Every December, the William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is held. Students work individually on this problem-solving test. The exam consists of two three-hour parts, each consisting of six problems.
Every February the Mathematical Contest in Modeling is held. Students work in teams of three using mathematics to solve a "real-world" problem. The competition lasts approximately four days and contestants must prepare a written paper detailing there solution.
Every March the Kansas Collegiate Mathematics Competition is held in conjunction with the statewide MAA meeting. Students work individually on a problem-solving test consisting of five problems to be solved in three hours.
