Suggestions:

Directions to the plant: I-35 to Exit 138, Road U (east of Emporia). Go north on Road U about 2.5 miles to Road 200. Turn west on Road 200 and proceed about 1.1 miles to the Emporia Energy Center site. Parking is available on the drive east of the plant site. ******************************************************************************************************** If you are driving from Topeka, you might consider a shortcut. It is easy and it has two options; the longer shortcut is all paved while the shortest involves a gravel road for about 4.5 miles. Both shortcuts involve exiting the Turnpike at exit 147 (i.e., the Admire Exit); after paying the toll turn left (i.e., west) and proceed approximately 3 to 4 miles to Highway 99 where you would turn left (i.e., south) toward Emporia; this is the only real intersection and it is obvious. You might look at your odometer here because it is 10 miles until you come to Burlingame Road; actually, it is after Road 250 a mile or so, so if you did not check the mileage do not worry. To switch from Highway 99 to Burlingame Road effectively you just go straight instead of making a rather sharp right; be sure to yield to an oncoming traffic from Highway 99 coming around the curve. Continue to go south on Burlingame Road and in about 4.5 miles you could take THE SHORTEST GRAVEL OPTION -------------------------------------------------------- Shortest - - gravel - - Option---------------------you could take a left (i.e., east) onto gravel Road 200 (Road 200 is after Road 205 and reasonably well marked). After about 4.5 miles on the gravel you will see the plant and pavement. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx The LONGER PAVED OPTION is all paved and it involves continuing south on Burlingame Road until Interstate 35. Enter I-35 by a left toward Kansas City. The go to Exit 138 (Road U) and turn Left (i.e., north). Proceed north about 2.5 miles and the pavement will end where you turn Left (i.e., west) onto Road 200 which is the only paved way to go. It is about 1.1 miles to the plant and it is unmistakable; also, the pavement ends soon after. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Wear clothing appropriate for the weather and bring an umbrella if it rains; be sure to wear shoes with an enclosed toe and heal. We will be indoors at first and later outdoors.

Special Requirements:

Always wear closed toe and closed heal shoes in this type of environment. They will provide hard hats and safety glasses.
