A diagnostic exam will be administered to determine your placement in MA110 College Algebra, MA098 Intermediate Algebra, or MA095 Elementary Algebra. All students must take the diagnostic exam each semester that they are enrolled in MA110, MA098, and MA095.
Placement in MA110 College Algebra, MA098 Intermediate Algebra, and MA095 Elementary Algebra will be determined as follows:
==============================================================
|
MA 110 Placement: If you have successfully completed MA 098, OR have an ACT score in mathematics of at least 22, OR a diagnostic score of at least 18, you will be placed in MA 110 College Algebra
| |
MA 098 Placement: If you have successfully completed MA 095, OR have an ACT score in mathematics of at least 19, OR a diagnostic score of at least 13, you will be placed in MA 098 Intermediate Algebra.
| |
MA 095 Placement: Otherwise, you will be placed in MA 095 Elementary Algebra.
|
It will be your responsibility to provide your documented ACT score to your instructor. Instructors will be checking your previous enrollment for successful completion of any prerequisite course.
==============================================================
You will have 40 minutes to complete the exam. The exam will be scored automatically.
After the exam, please see your instructor for proper placement into an algebra class.
You will need to "enroll" in the correct course using the software in Brighton AND you will need to do a drop/add slip if you have been switched to another algebra class due to the diagnostic placement exam.
GOOD LUCK on the exam!! Remember to bring two #2 pencils with eraser and a recommended graphing calculator.
