Style Guide

ESU's stylesheet is defined in the main.css (CSS - Cascading Style Sheet) file and other css files located on the system. All properties defined within the stylesheets are not to be changed or overridden. The properties are further explained below.

University Template

All websites hosted on the emporia.edu domain or non-official Websites hosted elsewhere are to comply with the university template unless a different template is approved by the University Webmaster in writing. Following is a screen shot of the approved university template for departmental pages.

The font for body copy is set up in the university’s main style sheet (main.css) as the following:

”Arial," sans-serif;

The template automatically includes the university’s main stylesheet and sets up the font for body copy properly. The font properties are not to be changed or overridden as set in the CSS unless approved in writing by the University Webmaster.

Font properties include the type of font, size and color.

Font for headings

The font for headings (<h1> through <h6>) is set up in the university’s main style sheet (main.css) as the following:

"Myriad-pro," "Arial," sans-serif;

Use of the university’s template will automatically set up the heading font properly. The heading properties are not to be overridden or changed unless approved by the University Webmaster in writing.

Link colors for content area

The link colors for the content area of pages are picked up from the visitors' browser settings. Certain pages override the link colors for aesthetic purposes. Please do not change the link colors unless approved in writing by the University Webmaster.
