Courses taught on demand to provide in-depth consideration of specialized topics in the various biological disciplines.
ZD/ZE- GREAT PLAINS PLANT COMMUNITIES
This course will examine the mosaic of plant communities and their key animal species that have shaped human history inn middle America from Saskatchewan to Texas. Our study will reveal an inspiring portrayal of our region from the works of writers, photographers and scientists. Journeys afield will identify plant assemblages and their roles in the ecology of the Great Plains. Environmental concerns related to soil, water and wildlife and strategies for incorporating our class work into the natural and social sciences and languages will be addressed. Materials for use in the teacher’s classroom will be provided. No previous courses in ecology are required.
