TEACHING SCIENCE IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Undergraduate

2 Credit Hours

A partially self-paced course that includes a sequence of laboratory activities that will increase prospective teacher’s competence in (1) a sequence of problem solving skills in science, and (2) planning, teaching, and evaluating the effectiveness of science lessons for children in a classroom observation/ participation setting. Students have access to materials and equipment from recently developed science curricula, plus a wide variety of materials and strategies for enriching a more conventional, textbook-oriented elementary science program.

Prerequisites: GB 303 and PS 115 and admission to Block 1; Requires permission to enroll from the Elementary Advising Office (620-341-5770).
