The Archives Studies Certificate (ASC) Program at the School of Library and Information Management is developed to prepare students to meet the challenges of arranging, describing, and organizing information in diverse formats, and providing access to, as well as preserving, this information. The program also prepares students to work in archival and special collections settings.
In the Archives Studies Certificate Program, students pay particular attention to :
- The diverse formats in which information is organized and delivered and the resulting complexity of information; organization, storage, maintenance, and preservation.
- Ways of providing access to and preserving materials that are of enduring value and serve as the cultural memory of a society; and
- The uniqueness of archives materials and library special collections and the techniques and processes that are necessary to manage and maintain these materials and collections.

Geospatial Analysis - Certificate
Offered Completely Online
This graduate certificate program,provides training and competency in geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, global positioning system (GPS), and related technologies. These valuable technical skills for professional career advancement can be acquired without the long-term commitment necessary for a master’s degree. The program is designed for traditional on-campus students as well as post-graduate students in two situations:
- Professionals at governmental agencies, which increasingly utilize techniques of geospatial analysis. GSA skill would enhance prospects for career advancement.
- Recent university graduates from traditional science programs. These individuals have sufficient disciplinary training, but in many cases lack technical skills necessary for career opportunities in the private or governmental sector.

Information Management - Certificate

The Information Management Certificate program (IMC) focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary for library and information management professionals to contribute to their organization’s bottom line by delivering quality services promptly, economically, and efficiently; adding value to data to create useful information; providing needed and missing information that will enable businesses to be successful; solving customer problems by taking a "big picture" approach; and customizing information services to meet the unique needs of internal and external customers of the organization.
This certificate is designed to educate information professionals to provide information and services to business. Industry, and public agencies that will facilitate decision making; enhance competitiveness; and assist commercialization and market expansion. The objectives of the certification are to 1) educate information professionals to the values and concerns of business; 2) effectively diagnose information needs of individuals and groups within a company; 3) complete business information searches using a variety of print and electronic sources; and 4) repackage information to address unique needs of customers.

Legal Information Management - Certificate
Offered Completely Online
The Graduate Certificate in Legal Information Management combines library and information management course work with law school course work taught by law professors, law librarians, and practicing attorneys. It is designed to train students to become effective law librarians or knowledge managers for law firms, courts, corporations, nonprofit agencies, international organizations, and law schools.
This certificate is designed for librarians and paralegals who want additional training and experience in legal research, legal information transfer, and the creation of digital legal information organization systems, including databases, intranets, and web pages.
