ESU Metro Learning Center Instructor Information
Location/Directions
The ESU Metro Learning Center is located at 8400 West 110th Street, Suite 150, Overland Park, Kansas 66210 (located between Antioch and Lowell Streets with easy access from College Boulevard). Please contact the MLC for further directions.
Classroom Assignments
Classrooms will be posted at the MLC prior to class. Once a classroom has been assigned, the ESU Office of Off-Site and Distance Education will contact professors by primary/on-file email address.
SLIM weekend-intensive instructors - A ESU MLC representative will meet you at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your Friday evening class to discuss weekend procedures.
Parking
Professors and students are able to park in any non-designated spot within the lot that surrounds the building. The lots are thoroughly illuminated in the evenings. Students and professors are advised to use the northeast ground entrance that is covered by an illuminated ESU awning, due to easy access to the parking lot. Please contact a representative of the MLC to address any concerns with the parking situation.
Key Information
A representative from the MLC will meet with all professors on the first evening of the semester to discuss the key procedures. SLIM professors will be assigned a key on the Friday evening during the meeting with the MLC representative which must be returned to the representative at the end of the course meeting.
Technology Equipment
All 5 classrooms and the conference room within the MLC are equipped with whiteboards/ accessories and a podium. The rooms are all equipped with features such as a projection screen, speakers and state of the art technology, including presenter laptop computer with wireless internet connection, LCD projector, document imaging camera, and DVD/VCR combo player.
If you experience any technical problems, please contact your MLC Representative or the TCS Help Desk.
Copies, Printouts, and Office Use
The MLC has a copy machine, Internet and printer accessible computers, and temporary office space for professor use. Please contact the MLC if you would like to schedule a time to use the office.
Safety Procedures
Instructors will be responsible for evaluating their individual classroom and identifying the closest exits/protection areas during the event of inclement weather and/or emergencies. Please notify students of these procedures.
The MLC is located within an office building that has 2 enclosed, concrete staircases that are safe areas in the event of a tornado. Students can also access the back corner of classroom 105. There are also many doors with external egress and illuminated exit signs that are located within close proximity of the classrooms in the event of an internal emergency.
Please contact a MLC representative for a complete manual including detailed safety procedures provided by the management company of the building.
