General Instructor Information
Class Rosters
With the new implementation of Banner, rosters are now available to you online. Therefore, we will no longer be sending out rosters automatically via email. To view your class rosters, login into Buzz In (http://buzzin.emporia.edu). Once you have logged-in to Buzz In, go to the Faculty Dashboard on the Faculty/Advising tab. Then click on a class. On the following menu, select Class List. Scroll down to view your roster.
If you do not know how to log in to Buzz In, please contact your department. If you have a particular roster request, please email Off-Site and Distance Education at lifelong@emporia.edu for assistance.
Textbook and Course Information
Your individual department can provide more in-depth information about your course. Once identified, please contact your individual department with information on your textbook choice so they can provide the ESU Memorial Union Bookstore with that information. Rosters can be obtained by contacting Off-Site and Distance Education.
Travel Procedures
ESU faculty teaching at distance sites need to contact Off-Site and Distance Education to arrange for their travel. State vehicles are available. If personal vehicle is preferred, reimbursement will be at state published rate and reimbursements will be completed at the end of each month.
Adjunct faculty - ESU will pay mileage if you are employed full-time elsewhere or have a principal place of employment. Mileage will be paid either from your home address or from your employment address to the teaching site, whichever is the shorter distance.
Retired faculty - Since you do not have a principal place of employment, No reimbursement will be paid.
Meals will not be reimbursed.
Inclement Weather/ Class Cancellations
Inclement weather postings can be found and are continually updated on the Off-Site and Distance Education website. ESU also contacts the local TV news channels to post closing information.
If your physical site is closed due to inclement weather, your class will be automatically cancelled. If you are traveling to a site, and you feel that inclement weather will prohibit you from making it safely to the location, you reserve the right cancel your class. If you plan to cancel class, please contact our office as soon as possible.
Off-Site and Distance Education will notify students by email and phone; please contact Off-Site and Distance Education if you need any further assistance.
If your class needs to be canceled due to personal emergencies, please contact Off-Site and Distance Education.
Crime Reports
Any crime/accident involving any ESU student occurring during class must be reported to Stacey Braun, Emporia State University Student Success Coordinator: 620-341-5738.
Faculty Email Addresses
It is very important for all faculty members to have an email account since most of your correspondence with Off-Site and Distance Education and your students will be electronic. We recommend that you use an ESU Internet-based account. Please contact your department to initiate your personal account. Note: Your ESU account is the University’s official email account.
ESU Stumail (Student Email) Accounts
Each student is assigned a Stumail account. It is mandatory that students use these accounts. Please encourage your students to check their Stumail account frequently as any correspondence will be sent directly to this account by Off-Site and Distance Education and the University.
Proctoring Services
Please contact Lifelong Learning if you require assistance with testing/proctoring or other aspects related to your course. Requests for proctoring through our office will follow the Off-Site and Distance Education Proctoring Policy.
