"Horizon Wimba Live Classroom was implemented to provide expansion in several areas: providing alternate and increased opportunities for collaboration and meetings for supervisors and mentors of preservice teachers, increasing synchronous learning opportunities for online courses, expanding video conferencing capabilities, improving helpdesk services, as well as increasing opportunities for synchronous collaboration or web conferencing for other ESU organizations and offices."

Horizon Wimba will be integrated within Blackboard "to enable audio and video conferencing, polling, multimedia sharing and application sharing" for online courses. It will also be used by ESU Help Desk personnel to address technical problems. For example, "the application sharing feature of the Live Classroom will enable help desk personnel to see the user’s desktop, making it easier to guide the user through a series of steps or, with the permission of the user, take control of the user’s interface to fix the problem remotely" (TCS News, June 2005) .
