About Elderhostel

What is Elderhostel?

Elderhostel is educational adventures for older adults looking for something different.  It is an independent non-profit educational organization offering inexpensive short term programs.  There are no prerequisites or exams.  The goal is learning while having fun.


What is Included?

Programs at Emporia State University are 6 or 7 day programs, typically beginning Sunday afternoon and ending midday Friday.  They often include classes in two or three areas of learning.  Field trips, tours, and additional presentations may be included depending on subjects being studied.  Transportation and meals are included for all.  Housing is provided for all except commuter participants.


Who can Participate?

Elderhostel programs are open to people age 55 and over.  A spouse or adult companion may attend with an age - eligible participant.  Handicapped accessibility is foremost in program planning.
