Election Procedures for Members Who Are Unable to Serve on LA & S Dean's Advisory Committee
In the case that an elected member of the LA & S Dean's Advisory Committee cannot serve his or her term for any part of the year due to leave of absence, sabbatical, leaving the university, or other circumstances, the following election procedures will be invoked. It will be the responsibility of the Advisory Committee to ensure that the College is informed of the need for elections prior to the next LA&S assembly and to carry out the elections according to these procedures. The Advisory Committee shall present nominees for the offices indicated, subject to the office-specific provisions below.
All of these elections will be announced in advance. Candidates will be solicited, and nominations will be accepted from the floor. As in the regular elections, in preparing the slate, the Advisory Committee shall gather nominations and shall consider representations of disciplinary interest, academic rank, and other diversity in the faculty. No more than two faculty members from any department shall be eligible for election.
Office-specific provisions:
1. If the Moderator elected cannot serve, the College will hold another election at the fall meeting. Members of the Advisory Committee can stand for election to the office of Moderator. Should one of them be elected, the College will elect a replacement secretary or member-at-large to the Advisory Committee.

3. If the past-Moderator cannot serve, the past-past Moderator will be asked. If that person cannot serve, volunteers will be solicited from the previous year's Advisory Committee. If more than one of the previous year's Advisory Committee members wishes to serve, then the College will hold an election.
4. If any elected Member-at-large cannot serve, the College will elect a replacement member-at-large to the Advisory Committee.
