I. Called to order 3:00 p.m.
II. Approval of minutes from 9/20/06
III. Joe Yanik introduced members of the Advisory Committee
IV. Election of new moderator and secretary
Dean’s Advisory Council (2007-2008)
Election results:
Moderator: Jorge Ballester (Physical Sciences)
Secretary: Monica Kjellman-Chapin (Art)
V. Dean’s remarks
The Dean distributed a factoids sheet listing LA&S accomplishments.
The Dean mentioned that the school is very strong because of its faculty.
The Dean shared his ideas about making decisions. He suggested that we consider these 2 questions:
1. What is idealistic about the decision?
2. What is realistic about the decision?
The Dean announced that his last day at ESU will be June 15th, 2007. He will continue doing lab work, he will continue to be involved with Camp Alexander, and he is planning on traveling.

The following individuals were recognized:
Sandy Browning: Retiree, received a gift certificate from the Dean
Julie Johnson: Retiree, contribution to the Great Plains Studies, received a gift certificate from the Dean
Ed McGlone: Retiree, occupied 12 offices on campus, taught in every college, wrote a speech for President Clinton

Research: Gary Wyatt (Sociology/Anthropology)
Service: Ron Keith (Physical Sciences)
VII. Election of the new Advisory Committee members at Large

VIII. Moderator’s remark
The Dean received a shirt with a printed message that reads:
“Future Transitional Fossil”
