Jones Policy Center
Established
in 1995 by a generous gift from the Walter S. and Evan C. Jones
Trust, the Jones Policy Center directs all policy work by and
for the Jones Institute, contracts with professionals to conduct
studies, and collaborates with other policy centers in the United
States. The center also directs the publication and distribution
of the conducted studies and the publicity surrounding them.
The primary objective of the policy center is to positively impact
education in Kansas by assisting policy makers to make accurate
and informed decisions on Kansas education issues.
Policy work has been a function of the Jones Institute since 1990,
when Dr. Jack Skillet and Dr. Stuart Ervay authored a study entitled "Kansas Education: Goals and Reform Initiatives for the 1990's." Since the fall of 1992, one of the responsibilities of the Jones
Distinguished University Professor each year has been to author
at least one policy study.
