Five Levels of Statewide Candidate Support

Level I:
Pre-candidate Support
Introduction to the process and the candidacy experience (delivered on-site, by request)

Level II:
Candidate Support

Begins with two-day orientation at ESU; followed by individualized or small cohort support for the portfolio phase of the process delivered primarily on-site and/or by distance delivery; concluding with a workshop at ESU in the spring to help prepare teachers for the assessment center exercises phase of the process

Take One! is professional development for individuals or building-wide, inclusive of administrators. The candidate does only one portfolio entry. The Great Plains Center provides the same support for these candidates as for all others.

For NBCTs wanting to renew their initial 10-year certificate; As of October 2008, the success rate from the Great Plains Center is 100%. The Renewal Academy, established in 2004, is offered every year in the fall.
