Roberts T. Jones brings a unique perspective on the public policy trends impacting our nation’s education and business training systems. A lifelong advocate for investing in people, he is widely credited with helping place workforce development at the forefront of the nation’s public policy agenda.

Jones has led the business community in supporting “standards-driven” education reform, introducing national initiatives in support of teaching, and producing analysis of national and international economic, education and workforce trends. Over the course of both presentations he will share what he perceives as current trends, issues, and controversies in education and training policy from grassroots to the federal government levels.

Roberts Jones served as the President and CEO of the National Alliance of Business, the Assistant Secretary of Labor under former Presidents Reagan and Bush, senior positions in two major U.S. corporations, and as Chief of Staff to two U.S. Congressmen. As Assistant Secretary of Labor, Jones initiated the widely recognized SCANS report which for the first time spelled out employer expectations for success in the workplace. He is currently President of Education & Workforce Policy, LLC, a policy consulting firm located in Washington D.C.

This event is being sponsored by The Teachers College and Jones Institute for Educational Excellence.
