9:30 - 11 a.m.	Seminar, "The Pulse of Teacher Education" Location: Visser Hall, ESU Campus Dr. Cormier will provide an overview of current education trends and issues in teacher education and give suggestions for how people can be active in the discussion of these issues. A question-and-answer session will follow this presentation.
11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.	Lecture, "Driving the Impostors from the Temple: The Accountability Movement in American Higher Education" Location: Butcher-Boertman Hall, Sauder Alumni Center

Since 1996 Dr. Cormier has served as president of Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia. Under her leadership, the institution has reaffirmed its time-honored commitment to preparing citizen-leaders to serve the common good, while positioning itself as a high tech, learning-centered environment second to none in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Dr. Cormier has been a vital force in workforce preparation and economic development in Southside Virginia and throughout the state. Actively involved in higher education for many years, Dr. Cormier has served in leadership positions on the American Council on Education Fellows Board, the American Association of Higher Education, the American Association of State Colleges & Universities, the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

One of 15 senior public institutions in Virginia, Longwood is among the top five most selective in the state. Nationally recognized for its educational quality, the university is ranked among the top ten public institutions in the Southern region in the 2002 U.S. News & World Report college survey.
