Assessment in the classroom and in professional learning communities should focus on addressing four key questions:

  • What do we expect them to learn?
  • How will we know when they have learned it?
  • What will we do when they don’t?
  • What will we do when they do?
    -- [DuFour, DuFour, Eaker, & Karhanek (2004)]

This workshop focuses on identifying the learning targets in district curricular objectives and/or state standards through a process called “unwrapping” and provides participants with the tools to create an assessment map for both formative and summative assessment. Participants should bring the curricular objectives and/or state standards for their content area. Instruction and a guided work time will be provided.

She served as the English department chair at Shawnee Mission North High School for 18 years and is currently the K-12 Reading/Language Arts Resource Specialist for Shawnee Mission USD 512.
