TCS provides videoconferencing, site-to-site distance learning connections, and web conferencing in our Distance Learning Classroom located in Visser Hall 111. Our office also assists with remote video units in Science Hall and the Butcher Education Center conference room. Videoconferences range from point-to-point meetings, presentations, and interviews to multi-site meetings and classes. These services are available for administrators, faculty, staff, and students; the room may also be used as a regional meeting host site. Using the Kan-Ed bridge allows for a video and audio feed to each participating location.
The distance learning classroom contains a Polycom 9001 HDX, DVD/VHS player, Elmo document camera, drop-down display screen, an LCD projector, and monitors from which the instructor or meeting facilitator may view remote sites. The room's computer and Crestron Touch Panel controls are conveniently located at the speaker's podium. The room seats up to 24 comfortably.
Stay tuned! VH111 is currently undergoing renovation. It will offer more seating for attendees in a comfortable environment and will use updated technologies to serve your distance classroom/meeting room needs.
Audio conferencing sessions may also be set up. These sessions use a PolyCom Soundstation to broadcast audio. This is most effective for web-delivered presentations, where participants may gather in one place and hear/see a presentation in a synchronous environment.
It is very important to schedule conferences well in advance, in order to ensure room availability, equipment availability, and time to set up and test the room for best performance.
