Job Duties: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Business Manager for student publications (The Bulletin & The Sunflower) is in charge of maintaining accurate accounting information for the organizations. The Business Manager collects advertising revenue, makes deposits, completes payroll, uses Banner and mainframe access, contracts employees hired by the Editors-in-Chief,and produces accounting reports for the Student Media Board. Performs other duties as assigned. The Business Manager participates in major decisions for the newspaper with the Editor-in-Chief and Advertising Manager. IMPORTANT WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: This position works closely with The Bulletin’s Editor-in-Chief, The Bulletin’s Advertising Manager, The Sunflower’s Editor-in-Chief, the advisers to both publications, the Memorial Union’s accounting department, many ESU departments, vendors, and Bulletin customers. The Bulletin’s circulation is 3,000, and its print edition comes out every Thursday during the fall and spring semesters. The Bulletin’s number one priority is to report campus news in a timely and accurate manner and work to serve the students of Emporia State University, above news sources, advertisers, university officials, personal agendas, or any other influence.
Minimum Qualifications: Previous accounting experience and/or completion of Managerial Accounting is recommended. Background check required.
Special Comments: Background check will be required.
We are looking for a responsible, hard-working and enthusiastic individual to assist the Student Publications business office. Training will include payroll procedure, employee contracts, business account management, etc. Previous experience is preferred, but training will be provided.
