Online Health Education Endorsement

Many teachers want to add additional certification or endorsement areas to their teaching certification. However, many do not have the ability to quit their jobs to return to school. The Department of HPER has created a fully online health education licensure program for teachers already certified or licensed in other areas. The online classes are offered only in the summer.

Our health education program is fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (Formally the North Central Association), as well as NCATE.  You can complete the entire program via distance learning.  The program is designed so a student can complete the program in three summers. However, it could take students more years to complete the program, depending on how many hours the students wish to take each a summer.

Qualifications to be admitted to the Health Education Program

  1. Person must already possess a secondary teaching degree (certification) in another subject area. A person with an elementary teaching degree (certification or licensure) could apply for the Health Education Endorsement, but would need to take additional course hours. Please contact the online Health Advisor for information.
  2. Must pass Health Education Praxis II Content Test
  3. Complete all Health Education classes with 2.75 GPA

Admission Process

  1. First fill out the Application for Health Education Licensure provided by the HPER Department. You will then be notified if you qualify for admission.
  2. Second, complete the application for Graduate Studies by going to Graduate Link. When completing the graduate application, indicate NON DEGREE seeking status in the degree field.
  3. After application is submitted, the Health Advisor will determine the classes you need to take to complete the endorsement.
