Graduate Admission Applications

Please note if you choose to submit a paper copy of the application, your application fee, if applicable, will be posted to your student account.  By having the fee charged to your student account, you will be able to pay utilizing MasterCard, American Express, or Discover (convenience charges apply), electronic check or paper check/money order.  Please mail your paper check/money order to:  Emporia State University, Campus Box 4021, 1200 Commercial St., Emporia, KS  66801.

Application

Choosing the correct application:  There are six different applications utilized for admission to graduate study.  Please review the following to determine which application best fits you.

1st Time Degree/Cert Seeking – This application is to be completed by students who are applying for a masters degree or certificate and have not attended ESU previously as a graduate student.

1st Time Licensure/Non-degree – This application is to be completed by students who are applying for a licensure program or as non-degree and have not attended ESU previously as a graduate student.

Returning Degree/Cert Seeking -This application is to be completed by students who have previously attended ESU as a graduate student and are returning as a degree or certificate seeking student.

Returning Licensure/Non-degree - This application is to be completed by students who have previously attended ESU as a graduate student and are returning as a licensure or non-degree seeking student.

1st time PhD - This application is to be completed by students who are applying for the School of Library and Information Management PhD program and have not attended ESU previously.

Returning PhD- This application is to be completed by students who are applying for the School of Library and Information Management PhD program and have previously attended ESU as a PhD student.

Transcripts

Students seeking a masters degree, graduate certificate or a PhD are required to submit official transcripts to the Graduate Office.  Transcripts are considered official when they arrive in the Graduate Office in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution.  (If you completed your bachelors degree at Emporia State University, you do not need to request an official transcript from ESU.)  Please have your official transcripts mailed to:  Emporia State University, Campus Box 4003, 1200 Commercial St., Emporia KS  66801.

Application Fee

The Kansas Board of Regents has approved a non-refundable one-time $40 graduate application fee for graduate degree seeking, licensure seeking, certificate seeking, and non-degree seeking students. Ph.D. students must pay a one-time non-refundable $50 graduate application fee.

If you have attended ESU previously as a graduate student and believe you have paid the one-time fee, please call or email the Graduate Office  prior to completing your application for verification of payment received (620-341-5403/800-950-GRAD or gradinfo@emporia.edu ).  If you have paid the application fee previously, please select the “Pay Later” option upon completion of your application.

Payment options for the application fee

Pay Now Option  By selecting the Pay Now option after completing your application, you will be prompted to provide  payment information for  your application fee immediately after selecting the “Application Complete” button utilizing an electronic check or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express).

Pay Later Option  By selecting the Pay Later option after completing your application, your application fee, if owed, will be posted to your ESU student Buzzin’ account.  Payments accepted for this option are electronic check, credit card (MasterCard, Discover, or American Express which are subject to a convenience fee) or check/money order by mail.  Please note you will not be able to use Visa as a form of payment.  You will receive an informational letter from the Graduate Office in the near future with information pertaining to your ESU Buzzin’ Account.
