The First Year Mentoring Program provides an opportunity for individual and personalized guidance as you navigate your first year at Emporia State. New students selected for the mentoring program will be paired in a one-on-one mentoring relationship with a member of the E-TEAM or a Peer Academic Leader (PAL). E-TEAM leaders and PALs are two groups of student leaders who work together to provide new students with a smooth and successful transition to Emporia State. Mentors and mentees will meet regularly throughout the fall semester. Your mentor will provide valuable advice and support and serve as a resource for you as you begin your journey at Emporia State.
After you apply, the How2ESU staff will review your application and match you with an E-TEAM leader or PAL based on mutual interests and similar backgrounds and experiences. We aim to match you with a mentor who we feel can provide the best guidance based on your unique needs.
Once a match has been made, you will receive an introductory phone call from your mentor approximately 1-2 weeks before classes begin. This will give you the opportunity to meet each other over the phone and make plans to meet in person during the first week of classes.
