PRESENT: Tony Ambrosio, Phil Bennett, Paul Bland (proxy for Steve Neill), Barbara Bleeker, Gary Bleeker, Malonne Davies, George Durler, Elissa Hadley, Ellen Hansen, Nancy Hite, Dennis Schmitt, Rachelle Smith (proxy for Amy Sage Webb), Shervette Stevens

I. Minutes of February 22, 2006 Meeting: The minutes of the General Education Council meeting of February 22, 2006 were approved.

II. Announcements:

A. G. Bleeker asked about any feedback council members may have received from faculty regarding the draft of the general education goals. None was reported.

III. Old Business:
A. Hadley and Stevens will distribute copy of Draft of the General Education Goals and Outcomes to students via ASG.
B. Council discussed working draft of General Education Component Matrix. Revisions were suggested. Suggestion made to distribute cover letter with the Draft of the General Education Goals and Outcomes to faculty. Ideas were submitted. G. Bleeker to distribute working draft of matrix to LA&S Chair’s council on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 for review.

IV. New Business:
A. Hite’s document, “Topics for possible Discussion at a Future General Education Council Faculty Forum,” was discussed. Consensus was to delay discussion of these topics until after we have received course proposals from departments.
