                          February 28, 2007 @ 3:00 p.m.

                                   Minutes

PRESENT:     Tony Ambrosio, Paul Bland, Malonne Davies, George Durler, Nicole Gannon, Christina Garton, Ellen Hansen, Nancy Hite, Steve Neill, Dennis Schmitt, Dean Sobieski (proxy for Gary Bleeker) and Gary Wyatt.

I. Minutes of February 14, 2007 were approved.

III. Old Business:

A.   Discussion ensured regarding the "Working Draft" of the General Education Program which was proposed by the subcommittee (Barbara Bleeker, Gary Bleeker, George Durler, Nicole Gannon, and Gary Wyatt).  Council  approved the following changes:

1. Remove Information Technology Literacy as a requirement and allow it be a program proficiency requirement.

Change      I. Core Skills  (15-17 Credit Hours) To I. Core Skills  (12-14 Credit Hours)

2.   Move Modern Languages from section III. Humanities to section   VI. Life Skills  

3. Change VI. Life Skills (3 credit hours) to VI. Contemporary Citizenship (5-6 credit      hours)

4.  Change  III. Humanities (6-8 Credit Hours)** to III. Humanities (6 Credit Hours)

B.         Tabled discussion of process for revising/streamlining general education goals/outcomes until the next meeting.

 

IV.       New Business:  None
