Your annual donation of $35 does more than give you access to the ESU tag. It helps us raise over $17,000 annually for new student scholarships.

Who qualifies for an Emporia State Corky license plate?

Are you an Emporia State University graduate? Student? Parent, fan, or friend of Emporia State? Congratulations—you’re eligible to apply for a Corky tag if:

  • you own or lease a vehicle registered in Kansas, and
  • your vehicle is a passenger car or a truck that is registered for weight of 20,000 lbs. or less. (Motorcycle plates are not available.)

How do I order my license plate?

Download and return the completed application and your $35 (tax-deductible) payment for each plate requested to:

You may also use the Marketplace website to apply online.

The Foundation will issue you a gift receipt and eligibility certificate.
Take the eligibility certificate from the Foundation to your county treasurer to obtain your ESU Corky license plate.
In addition to the $35 annual payment to the Emporia State Foundation, you are responsible for the personalized plate fees and any fees associated with the registration of your vehicle(s).
State fees include a $40 personalized plate fee paid every five years; a $5 plate manufacturing fee paid once; and a $.50 reflectorized fee, paid once.

How do I renew my license plate?

Approximately 45 days before your annual tag renewal date, the Foundation will send you a vehicle verification form and notice to pay your annual tax-deductible $35 fee for each vehicle carrying the Corky license plate. Once your payment is received, the ESU Foundation sends you an eligibility certificate which you take to the county treasurer or mail with your registration when you pay your other vehicle registration fees.

Can I personalize my Corky license plate?

Plate numbers are produced consecutively and issued randomly. The State of Kansas does not allow personalization of educational license plates and does not honor requests for specific plate numbers.

Can I order a Corky license plate for my motorcycle?

No, motorcycle plates are not available.
