Summer Financial Aid
At Emporia State University, we treat the summer term as a "header" to a financial aid year. What this means is that when you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we look at your financial aid eligibility for the current year's summer and fall terms, and the following year's spring term (e.g. 2014-2015 FAFSA determines eligibility for summer and fall of 2014, and spring of 2015). Not all schools treat their summer terms like this, so it is important to know if the institution you plan to attend treats their summer term as either a header or a trailer so you know which FAFSA to complete.
Students must also be enrolled for the summer term before aid is awarded to them and must also be enrolled at least half-time for most aid programs. To see what half-time is considered for your classification, click on "Enrollment" on the links to the left.
