I. Call to Order:

President Calhoun called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m. in the KSN Room of the Memorial Union. Minutes from Oct. 8 (revised), Oct. 29. and Nov. 5 were distributed.

II. Discussion:

There was general discussion about procedures for administering the administrator review surveys and the uniqueness of questions that need to be asked. It was suggested that additional information be included on the questionnaire; Senator Robinson will try to incorporate the ideas suggested.

III. Announcements:

1. Senator Keith indicated the Faculty Grievance Policy is ready for review by Gayle Meierhoff. There remains some concern about access to legal consultation by faculty senate committees. Concern remains about the need for legal assistance in writing the Intellectual Property Rights policy for ESU.
2. Committee will be meeting with Jackie Scott after the first of the year about maternity leave/rights issues.
3. Question was raised on what the senate is doing about the issue involving removal of phrase "sexual orientation" from non-discrimination documents. Should the Senate do anything? What?
4. There was brief discussion about President Schallenkamp's decision to form a broad- based committee/task force to create a values/vision statement that would result in clarification of the ESU policy on non-discrimination.
5. There is concern about need to complete the Faculty Handbook. Delays appear to be related to time availability of legal counsel.
6. President Calhoun mentioned there is a need to clarify the status of the +/- grade system resolution and what is to happen next. Is there a committee, etc. to examine the impact of grades during the spring?
7. The concern of the administration with the virtual map developed by the mathematics division was not a question of purpose or content but rather related to quality.

III. Adjournment:

President Calhoun adjourned the meeting at 1:05 p.m.

Marvin D. Kuehn
