I. Purpose: This bill provides E.S.U. students with a clear prior assurance that

            course work pursued at another tertiary institution will apply to their

            current program. It extends a current policy from "summer or non-term"

            to all semesters and terms. It also clarifies that the course equivalency

            approval is granted by the chair of the division offering the course at E.S.U.

II. Previous Senate Action:   None

III. Definition of Terms: None but see current E.S.U. Undergraduate Catalog, page 25;

                          sample proposed form is attached.

IV.  Bill:

                     Clarification of Prior Approval Policy

1 E.S.U. students who wish to take course work at another institution must

2 complete a prior approval form and obtain the required signatures to ensure that

3 such course work is transferable to E.S.U. Prior approval forms are available in

4 the Registar's office. Approval is provided by the E.S.U. chairperson of the

5 division in which the E.S.U. equivalent course is offered.

6 This prior approval process would become effective with the publication of the

7 next Undergraduate Catalog.
