FACULTY SENATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
September 5, 1996

Members present: Ballester, Butler, Calhoun, Greenlief, McCoy, Payne, Terrell, Yanik
Absent: Irwin

I. Call to order:

President Ron McCoy called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m.

II. Announcements and Remarks:

A. Faculty President McCoy
1. Eight faculty names have been sent to the Board of Regents for consideration of selection to fill 4 faculty slots on the President's Search Committee.
2. On Sept. 13, there will be a meeting between university officials and a candidate for the chief legal counsel for the Board of Regents. If members have a sample question for this attorney, particularly based on current legal concerns, please forward these questions to President McCoy.
3. The four faculty members were suggested for membership on the library director search committee. The executive committee approved the names.

B. Vice President Payne
1. Comments about revisions to the Vision 2020 document have been received from the Teacher's College and the School of Business. LA&S and SLIM have not sent in any changes at this point.
2. The Board may be in the process of developing a matrix to record the progress of each institution on the issue of chronic low performance.

III. Committee Reports:

A. Academic Affairs (Ballester)
The committee will have its first meeting next Tuesday. Its agenda was discussed at the previous Senate Exec meeting.

B. Committee on Campus Governance (Terrell)
This committee may be interested in contacting its counterpart on other campuses to compare responsibilities.

C. Faculty Affairs (Butler)
Sen. Butler has obtained copies of the current drafts of chronic low performance procedures from almost all regent institutions. He discussed some of the wording from the University of Kansas document which may be useful to the committee as a model for the creation of a procedural statement for ESU.

IV. Adjournment:

President McCoy adjourned the meeting at 12:50 p.m.
