I. Call to order:

President Ron McCoy called the meeting to order at 12:05 p.m.

A. Faculty President McCoy
1. The Long Range Planning Committee met this past week. Issues such as the distribution of money toward scholarships and equipment were discussed.
2. President McCoy also attended the meeting of the Board of Directors of the ESU Foundation with the Board of the Alumni Association. McCoy suggested that the senate executive committee invite this group to send a representative to Senate meetings. The members of the Executive Committee unanimously agreed with this suggestion.
3. If a senate committee will not be meeting at its designated time, the chair should contact the Memorial Union about this change as soon as possible. There may be a charge assessed by the Memorial Union if a room reserved is not used.
4. President McCoy distributed a speech, Telling What Faculty Do, by David Balk, Faculty President at Kansas State University.
5. Judy Calhoun will attend the Council of Faculty Presidents for Ron McCoy who will be out of town.

B. Vice President Payne
1. Comments about revisions to the Vision 2020 document have been received from the Teacher's College and the School of Business and SLIM. LA&S has not sent in any changes at this point.
2. Concerning the program review process, such factors as quality of program and program improvement may play more of a role than simply a review of numerical data.

III. Committee Reports:

A. Academic Affairs (Ballester)
The committee discussed the issues of prior approval and concurrent enrollment at its meeting this week. Guests, Joe Yanik and Dwight Moore, attended this meeting to provide information on these issues.

B. Committee on Campus Governance (Terrell)
The Committee received an inquiry about the senate representation of the administration. Chairman Terrell will work with the student secretary to check the current list of senators and ensure that all positions are filled.

C. Faculty Affairs (Butler)
Sen. Butler presented a working document on a policy statement on the process of dismissal for chronic low performance. There was much discussion on the document and a few suggestions for changes. Chairman Butler intends to have another committee meeting before the Tuesday Senate meeting. If possible, a bill will be presented at that time.

D. Faculty Handbook (Greenlief)
The current electronic copy of the Policy and Procedures Manual may be accessed on the Academic Server. The group also discussed developing a method of identifying those who will want a hard copy of the Faculty Handbook when it is ready for distribution.

IV. Adjournment:

President McCoy adjourned the meeting at 2:05 p.m.
