Emphasis in German
Option B: One Teaching Field
This degree prepares students to teach German in PK-12 schools, work in government agencies, business, and industry, or pursue graduate study. The required 31 hours include studies in language, literature, culture, linguistics, and composition.
General Information: General Education requirements for the degree bachelor of science in education are outlined in the schedule of classes in the undergraduate catalog. Additional upper division requirements are stated in the catalog. Also, PY 211 and MA225 are required to enter this program
Requirements: 31 hours (beyond first-year courses which are a part of the general education component of the degree requirements). An oral interview is required upon entering the program and before graduation in order to evaluate progress and proficiency. Graduates must attain an ACTFL Oral Proficiency rating of “Advanced Low.” Also, a 90% on the Wisconsin Test is necessary to be accepted in this program. Moreover, a student in good standing must maintain a 3.0 grade point average in the foreign language
Recommendation: It is strongly recommended that all majors participate in an acceptable study program abroad in which they will be exposed to the target language and culture.
