Abstract
This webpage illustrates an attempt to classify surface features of Chase County, Kansas using Landsat 7 satellite imagery. The Landsat 7 imagery is from path 28 row 33 and was taken on July 9, 2000. I attempted to delineate between agricultural crops, forest, active grasslands, rock/pavement, bare soil, and water bodies. I utilized the Idrisi software packages different methods of supervised and unsupervised classification techniques, comparing the results of the computer-assisted interpretations to determine which is most appropriate. For supervised classifiers I utilized the piped, mindist, and maxlike modules. For unsupervised classifiers I utilized the cluster and isocluster modules. I found that the maxlike supervised classification gave the most accurate results for classifying surface features throughout Chase County.
