Southeast Entrance to Cheyenne Bottoms
Many visitors start their driving tour at the southeast corner of the Cheyenne Bottoms, one of the world's most important wildlife areas. In the fall of 1988, Cheyenne Bottoms was designated a "Wetland of International Importance" under a worldwide treaty. This place is and area of many plants, reptiles, mammals, amphibians, and insects that make the Bottoms so important to wildlife and people.
This place is unique. It has features typical for wetland and prairie, natural and artificial. Many people support by participating in a variety of project related to protection water for wildlife, its inhabitants, and the environment in general. They recognize that Cheyenne Bottoms is a valuable part of their heritage.
