Welcome!
Emporia State University selected 24 teachers the K-12 levels to participate in an Eisenhower-funded, week-long summer workshop, held July 16-20, 2001. The goal of the workshop was to provide hands-on Earth Science content background enhanced by the use of GIS. The campus presentations provided a fundamental understanding of Kansas geology, paper and digital maps, global positioning systems, geographic information systems, and webpage creation. Presentations and activities were given by ESU Earth Science faculty, Kansas Geological Survey representatives, and K-12 teachers. There were two separate, one-day follow-up sessions held during the 2001-2002 academic year. Activities and student generated projects are still online for any interested viewers.
