INTRODUCTION
Topography is the configuration of the land surface which is shown in maps as contour lines. Besides contours, topographic maps use township and range lines to show locations. A Contour line is an imaginary and connects points of equal elevation, which is given in feet or meters above sea level; the contour lines are brown on standard U.S.G.S. topographic maps.
Topographic maps not only provide location and elevation information, but topography can also show geomorphic features, such as those created by streams or glaciers. Glaciers are thick ice that results from compaction and crystallization of snow.
