Registering with the Office

All students with disabilities are encouraged to register with the office. For the receipt of accommodations and services, students must self-identify to the Office of Disability Services by registering as a student with an obvious or hidden disability. The registration process begins by meeting with the director of the office to discuss a student’s individual needs inside and outside the classroom. This process is also referred to as the Intake Interview. It is recommended that registration with the office begin prior to enrolling in classes and participating in orientation (the combination of these two activities is referred to as SWARM at Emporia State – GO HORNETS!) Documentation of a disability must be submitted to the office in support of accommodations and services that are being requested. Confidentiality of disability related information is kept within the office, unless written permission is given.
