M.S. Program

Emporia State University offers a Master of Science (MS) Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Pscyhology (I/O). The program is intended to provide each student with a strong background in psychology and quantitative methods, as well as a comprehensive review of the literature and research that underlies specific areas of I/O.

The program consists of 36 credit hours and can typically be completed in 2 years. The coursework includes: (a) core classes in basic psychology, research methodology, and statistics; (b) seminar classes in Industrial and Organizational Psychology; (c) an MBA electives from the Business department; and (d) a thesis and internship.

Each year about 8 to 12 new graduate students enroll in the program. Many of the students come from all over the country, while others have come from countries as far away as Bulgaria, Japan, Mexico, and Russia. There are currently two full-time I/O faculty. Subsequently, a small faculty/student ratio provides several opportunities for students to receive a great deal of individual attention both in and out of the classroom.

The employment rate of I/O Psychology students from Emporia State University is 98% within 3 months of graduation! Some of our more recent alumni have been employeed as:

  • Human Resource Generalists, Specialists, Managers, and Directors
