SSIOP Activites and Events
SSIOP supports the community of Emporia through both volunteer and fundraising activities. The volunteer activities allow us to stay in touch with the needs of the Emporia community. The Fundraising activities make possible our participation in the Annual SSIOP conference and collaborate with the student’s research projects and thesis expenses. We also get together for social events, where we get to know each other and have fun. Some of them are listed below:

Professional Events
SSIOP members partake in a variety of professional events. Each year members of SSIOP attend the national Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) conference. Members of SSIOP often attend and present at the annual Psychological and Educational Research in Kansas (PERK) conference.
The scheduling of Field trips and Guest speakers are also important professional opportunities hosted by SSIOP. SSIOP actively seeks out opportunities to provide its consulting services to both local and State-wide clients, as well.

Consulting projects
Emporia School District: USD 253, Emporia, KS (Fall 2004- Spring 2005)
- Oversaw the development and creation of job descriptions for K-12 custodial and maintenance staff following an extensive job analysis process. Supervised a team of ten associates.
City of Kansas City, MO (Spring 2004)
- Developed a customized 200-item organizational feedback survey instrument focused on Human Resources and general job/company satisfaction.
- Oversaw development of instrument with a seven-person associate team.
USDA Farm Service Agency. Emporia, KS. (Fall 2003)
- Directed a team of five associates in the testing, analysis, and one-on-one feedback of personality testing for 18 managers. Coordinated multiple sessions in both Emporia and El Dorado locations.
Emporia School District: USD 253, Emporia, KS. (Spring 1999 - Summer 2000)
- Directed two 360-degree feedback performance appraisal program for the development of executive administration. Assisted in the development of the feedback instrument and results profile. Conducted the feedback interviews with administration, principals, and assistant principals.
Emporia School District: USD 253, Emporia, KS. (Spring 1998)
- Conducted an organizational development and change consultation for new school superintendent. Based on interviews, tour, survey feedback, and consultation with other superintendents recommended changes in technology, physical layout/design, job redesign, organizational chart, and communication enhancement.
Board of Regents and Emporia State University, Emporia, KS. (Spring 1998)
- Internal consulting project to interview 636 current ESU students by phone on college experiences, analyze data, and produce final report including statistical analyses.
Cooperation Education Department and Emporia State University, Emporia, KS. (Fall 1997 – Spring 1998)
- Internal consulting project to redesign performance appraisal instrument for supervisors hosting ESU students in business co-op arrangements.
Holiday Resorts and Estates, Emporia, KS. (Fall 1996 – Fall 1997)
- Evaluated turnover problem in CNA staff at nursing home. Utilized job analysis via observation and interviews to make recommendations for improving orientation, training, compensation, and personnel selection system.
