What is Hip-Hop?

E-Unit

Hip Hop is the term used to describe a culture that includes rapping, breakdancing and grafitti art. Originating in the low socio-economic slums of South Bronx in the 1970’s, it provided the youth of the day an avenue to channel their angst and frustrations. Rap music and dance expressed the political, social and economic conditions from the youth perspective. Over time Hip Hop evolved as a lifestyle with its own language, music, fashion and “kick butt” attitude.
