A CAPPELLA CHOIR
ESU A Cappella Choir is an organization dedicated to excellence in musicianship. Majors and non-majors rehearse and perform a wide range of music from all historical eras and cultures, western and non-western with four performances a year. An audition is required.

ALPHA KAPPA DELTA
Alpha Kappa Delta international sociology honor society which promotes scholarship in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition. The chapter also helps sponsor guest speakers and other academic events in the department and on campus. The chapter members may act as tutors for sociology classes, attend and present professional papers at local and national conferences.

ALPHA KAPPA LAMBDA
Alpha Kappa Lambda is a national academic fraternity that returned to Emporia State University in 2006. AKL is a diverse group of 35 young men who share a common goal in developing into mature individuals. Located at 1005 Constitution, AKL is one of the largest fraternities on campus, the top scholastic fraternity, and has the most members in campus leadership roles. The undergraduate members of AKL share with the alumni a proud history at Emporia State. The re-established AKL was officially made a chapter in 2008 after two years as a colony. Since 1949, AKL has been a brotherhood at ESU that embodies ideals of leadership, scholarship, loyalty, Judeo-Christian principles, and self-support.

ALPHA SIGMA TAU, IOTA CHAPTER
The purpose of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority is to promote the ethical, cultural, and social development of its members. Alpha Sigma Tau strives in its members to carry on the traditions and memories for years to come. Our sisterhood values the contributions each member makes to our chapter experience. We have different hometowns, various backgrounds and our own personalities, but we have something in common: we chose Alpha Sigma Tau. The official philanthropy of Alpha Sigma Tau is the Pine Mountain Settlement School. Since 1945, Alpha Sigma Tau has supported Pine Mountain School in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains as its National Philanthropy. The school is located in the north side of the mountain in Harlan County, Kentucky. The spirit of its goals, to help the people of the area make a difference with their lives, parallels the purpose of Alpha Sigma Tau. Recently, Alpha Sigma Tau adopted Habitat for Humanity as another official philanthropy. The women of Alpha Sigma Tau strive for everlasting friendships, diversity, and strength in each sister. As we continue to grow and change, we hope that we will improve each day, but still maintain these ideals of our open motto: Active, Self-Reliant, Trustworthy.

ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK

AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY STUDENT AFFILIATE
ACS Stands for American Chemical Society, which is the largest scientific organization in the world. Membership spans from undergraduate novice chemists to Nobel Prize winning chemists. We at ESU attend the Midwest regional meeting every fall and the national meeting every spring. Our main goals as a student affiliate group are to build group camaraderie and to provide assistance in the education of young people in the world of the sciences. We are also the student organization responsible for free chemistry tutoring, goggle and apron sales.

AMERICAN CRIMINAL JUSTICE ASSOCIATION
The purpose of the American Criminal Justice Association is to improve criminal justice through educational activities, foster professionalism in law enforcement personnel and agencies, promote professional, academics, and public awareness of criminal justice issues, encourage the establishment and expansion of higher education and professional training in criminal justice, provide a unified voice for professionals in, and students of, criminal justice, promote high standards of ethical conduct, professional traning, and higher education within the criminal justice field, and continue to uphold the excellence of education in the field of criminal justice.

ASSOCIATED STUDENT GOVERNMENT
Associated Student Government (ASG) is a group of student advocates who play an active role in university-wide, community, as well as state programs and policymaking processes. ASG provides both free legal counseling and a safe ride program called Corky's Cab free of charge to ESU students. Corky's Cab can be reached by calling 343-8310. BETA ALPHA PSI
Beta Alpha Psi is the International Honors Organization for Financial Information Professionals. Though best known as the accounting honorary fraternity, membership is open to all accounting, finance, and information systems majors who meet the criteria. The primary objective of Beta Alpha Psi is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance, and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development; service and association among members and practicing professionals, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.

BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS
Our organization strives to promote positive youth development through fun and meaningful relationships between caring adults and children in the Emporia area. Our members seek to educate and enrich the ESU community by providing opportunities for ESU students to connect with members of a younger generation on a personal level. The focus of our organization is to broaden the experience of ESU students through enjoyable activities, community service, and ongoing education. Membership is free and open to any ESU student. BBBS: Hornet Queens & Buzz Club meets every Thursday that classes are held. Hornet Queens and Buzz Club is a great way to make a difference in the life of a child! Little Moments, Big Magic!

BLACK STUDENT UNION
Black Student Union (BSU) of Emporia State University is a service organization, which serves as a bonding force for all students at the university. The goals of BSU are largely aimed at an atmosphere on the ESU campus, where African-American students can adjust to the environment and be academically motivated. The organization also provides social activities that are geared towards, but not exclusive to teh African-American community, meaning we welcome ALL students and encourage them to join the organization. The Black Student Union WILL NOT exclude anyone from membership on the basis of race, gender, age, or religious beliefs.

BULLETIN
The Bulletin is Emporia State's student newspaper and primary source of the university community news, and it serves as the university's official paper of record. It is published once a week on Thursdays during the fall and spring semesters and is distributed free of charge throughout various campus buildings and nearby businesses. The Bulletin is supported by student fees and advertising, and it is produced entirely by students. It provides practical experience to students who are interested in journalism, as well as the commercial writing, advertising and publishing industries. The Bulletin is located on the third floor of the Memorial Union. Students interested in working with The Bulletin should submit a resume, cover letter and writing sample (as applicable) to the editor-in-chief.

Circle K of Emporia State University is a sup-part of Emporia Kiwanis. We are an organization dedicated to serving the City of Emporia with community service. ESU BOXING CLUB
The ESU Boxing Club is a club sport open to all students at ESU. The Boxing Club is dedicated to providing a safe and friendly atmosphere in which participants with varying levels of experience can learn or develop boxing skills. ESU Boxing Club practices are led by Coach Earl Givens, Jr and experienced student boxers. The program emphasizes the teaching of fundamental novice boxing skills while studying. The club is designed to provide a safe, positive educational experience for student athletes and encourages participation at the intramural, instructional, recreational, and competitive boxing levels. We welcome all individuals interested in learning, training, and competing (not required) in amateur boxing.

ESU CHESS CLUB
ESU Chess club was created to provide any members of the Emporia community wish to play chess with a forum to do so. They will teach the basic understanding of the rules for beginners as well as critical analysis of the tactics of the game for more advanced players. Furthermore, they will provide communication to playing members to be able to find an opponent to play and improve their skills outside of meetings of the ESU Chess Club as well as at meetings.

KAPPA SIGMA FRATERNITY
Kappa Sigma is the nation's fourth largest fraternity with over 250 chapters in 46 states and Canada. There are over 185,000 initiates including 15,000 undergraduates. Kappa Sigma provides the largest scholarship/leadership fund of any national fraternity which awards over $70,000. Emporia State University chapter, Lambda Upsilon, is a proven leader in many different aspects on campus. The Kappa Sigma grade point average is consistently above the all men's average at ESU. Academic achievement is always taken seriously in our fraternity. The Kappa Sigma fraternity has been without a doubt one of the most athletic and sports-minded chapters on campus. We have claimed the Intrafraternity Council Sports Trophy more times than any other chapter over the past decade and were the leader in IFC athletics before the Sports Trophy made its appearance in 1983. Many of our brothers, past and present, have participated in varsity athletics at ESU. When it comes to community service, our chapter takes an active role. Whether working with Habitat for Humanity or handing out flowers on Valentine's Day, Kappa Sigma is tremendously involved with the Emporia community.

Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association (NCA). LPH represents when Aristotle described in his book, Rhetoric, as the three ingredients for persuasion: Logos (Lambda) meaning logic, Pathos (Pi) relating to emotion, and Ethos (Eta) defined as character credibility and ethics. PSI CHI
Psi Chi is the national honor society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests, and who meet the minimum qualifications. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS). Psi Chi's sister honor society is Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges.

S.C.A.L.E.S. (Safe, Consensual, Alternative, Lifestyles, Education & Support) is an education based support group for people whose lifestyles are not yet accepted by mainstream society. We meet every Saturday in the Roe Cross room in the Memorial Union from 2 - 4pm. We have educational discussions, presentations, group support, and even occasional field trips. We are open to any individuals associated with Emporia State University including students, alumni, faculty, and employees.
