The official philanthropy of Alpha Sigma Tau is the Pine Mountain Settlement School. Since 1945, Alpha Sigma Tau has supported Pine Mountain School in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains as its National Philanthropy. The school is located in the north side of the mountain in Harlan County, Kentucky. The spirit of its goals, to help the people of the area make a difference with their lives, parallels the purpose of Alpha Sigma Tau. Recently, Alpha Sigma Tau adopted Habitat for Humanity as another official philanthropy. The women of Alpha Sigma Tau strive for everlasting friendships, diversity, and strength in each sister. As we continue to grow and change, we hope that we will improve each day, but still maintain these ideals of our open motto: Active, Self-Reliant, Trustworthy.
