Dr. Mildred Edwards of Wichita was appointed to the Kansas Board of Regents by Governor Mark Parkinson in 2010. She is the Executive Director of the Kansas African American Affairs Commission in Topeka.
Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau is a Democratic member of the Kansas State Senate, representing the 29th District since 2009. She was previously a Kansas Representative. She was appointed to the Kansas House in 2004 by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

Honorable Carol A. Beier, Kansas Supreme Court Justice spoke on the topic of "Diversity in Law".
This year's keynote speaker was Paige Wymore-Wynn, Chief Deputy Clerk, U.S. District Court - Western Missouri. Mrs. Wymore-Wynn is a 1986 Sociology graduate of Emporia State University and a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority.
Donna Shank, the Vice-President and co-owner of Al Shank Insurance, Inc., in Liberal, Kansas. Regent Shank is also a member of the Accreditation Review Council for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and a member of the WSU Alumni Association.
Bryan Thompson, a lifelong Kansan, began working as the Children's Health Reporter for KANU and Kansas Public Radio just over three years ago. He's been an award-winning radio newsman at various stations in Kansas for more than 20 years.
Kathleen Sebelius, Kansas Insurance Commissioner, was the keynote speaker for the AKD Initiation Banquet. Mrs. Sebelius is currently serving her second term as Insurance Commissioner. Kathleen Sebelius is also a candidate for the Kansas 2002 Governor's race.
