2013-2014 Speaker:
Dr. Glenda Overstreet, Kansas Chapter NAACP President and Vice-President of Business Affairs at Colby Community College

2012-2013 Speaker:
Kansas House Representative Peggy Mast representing the 76th district. She has served since 1997 and is currently the Speaker of the House Pro Tempore.

2011-2012 Speaker
Dr. Mildred Edwards of Wichita was appointed to the Kansas Board of Regents by Governor Mark Parkinson in 2010. She is the Executive Director of the Kansas African American Affairs Commission in Topeka.

2010-2011 Speaker:
Senator Oletha Faust-Goudeau is a Democratic member of the Kansas State Senate, representing the 29th District since 2009. She was previously a Kansas Representative. She was appointed to the Kansas House in 2004 by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

2008-2009 Speaker:
A. ZaBerthe-Smith, Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Denver Terrorism Division in Denver, Colorado, spoke on the topic "Breaking the Glass Ceiling" with amusing anecdotes of her experiences.

2006-2007 Speaker:
Dr. Vernetta D. Young, Sociology and Anthropology professor at Howard University, shared her view of "Women in Academia: The Best of Times?" during the AKD Banquet, April 9, 2007.           

2005-2006 Speaker:
Honorable Carol A. Beier, Kansas Supreme Court Justice spoke on the topic of "Diversity in Law".

2004-2005 Speaker:
This year's keynote speaker was Paige Wymore-Wynn, Chief Deputy Clerk, U.S. District Court - Western Missouri. Mrs. Wymore-Wynn is a 1986 Sociology graduate of Emporia State University and a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority.

2003-2004 Speaker:
Donna Shank, the Vice-President and co-owner of Al Shank Insurance, Inc., in Liberal, Kansas. Regent Shank is also a member of the Accreditation Review Council for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, and a member of the WSU Alumni Association.

2002-2003 Speaker:
Bryan Thompson, a lifelong Kansan, began working as the Children's Health Reporter for KANU and Kansas Public Radio just over three years ago. He's been an award-winning radio newsman at various stations in Kansas for more than 20 years.

2001-02 Speaker:
Kathleen Sebelius, Kansas Insurance Commissioner, was the keynote speaker for the AKD Initiation Banquet. Mrs. Sebelius is currently serving her second term as Insurance Commissioner. Kathleen Sebelius is also a candidate for the Kansas 2002 Governor's race.

2000-01 speakers included:
Shawn Brewer, 2000 Outstanding Recent Graduate for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and a Federal Probation Officer was the keynote speaker for the AKD Initiation Banquet.

1999-00 speakers included:
Elizabeth Esterchild, University of North Texas 
"Let the Cowgirls Ride: Gender, Generations and Ranching"

Carol Porter, the Law Office of John M. Knox,  
Lawrence, KS was the keynote speaker for AKD Initiation Banquet.

Jill Docking, A.G. Edwards and Sons, Inc. 
"The Changing Roles of Women in the Workplace"

1998-99 speakers included:

Initiation April 28, 2014

AKD initiated16 new members into the organization. The initiation banquet was held in the Memorial Union, Ballroom.
