The Kansas Epsilon Chapter of Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity was formed at Emporia State University in 1968. Internationally, Phi Delta Theta is one of the largest fraternities with 168 chapters in the United States and Canada. Other Phi Delta Theta chapters in Kansas are at the University of Kansas, Kansas State University, Washburn University, Wichita State University, and Southwestern University.

Phi Delta Theta began its heritage when our six founding fathers wrote and signed the Bond of Phi Delta Theta on December 26, 1848. Our fraternity is founded on the three principles of friendship, sound learning, and rectitude. Our members inherit over 150 years of traditions, ideas, and accomplishments.

At Emporia State University, Phi Delta Theta offers a strong program that enables its members to achieve leadership skills, academic success, friendship, social skills, and athletic competition. Our members are very active on campus.

Phi Delta Theta is known for excellence in all areas of the university. Over the past decade, we have won the semesterly Interfraternity Scholarship Trophy more semesters than any other chapter! Also, our chapter has won the Outstanding Chapter Trophy numerous times. Our excellence continues with community service. Last year our chapter performed over 35 community service projects. We were recently recognized by our General Headquarters for constructing the best overall community service day.

Upon becoming a pledge, there is an educational period to prepare men for membership in Phi Delta Theta. The pledges, known as Phikeia (Phi-Ki-Ah), are instructed on the history, life, and lore of the fraternity. The education period allows the Phikeia to gain an appreciation for their fraternity. The education period is of a positve and beneficial nature and in no way demoralizes the new member. Phi Delta Theta does not haze.

The men of Phi Delta Theta would like to extend to you the opportunity to better acquaint yourself with our organization. Phi Delta Theta is a brotherhood for life.
