About the Counselor Education and Rehabilitation Programs Department
The professional identity of the Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation Programs is grounded in the mission of both The Teachers College and Emporia State University. As faculty members, we consider ourselves learners, teachers, counselors, and practitioners with a unique role of developing skilled practitioners in the areas of rehabilitation counseling, rehabilitation services, and school counseling. Through this role we support, encourage, and advocate for the growth, development, and well being of all individuals in a diverse, pluralistic and ever-changing world.
Mission
Through excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, and service, the mission of the Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation Programs is to: 1) prepare competent and ethical practitioners to provide effective programs and services, and 2) advocate for consumer and client welfare .
Vision
The Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation Programs will continue preparing highly skilled practitioners for an increasingly diverse and technologically-oriented society. Our vision is to be recognized as having comprehensive and relevant programs in rehabilitation counseling, rehabilitation services, and school counseling that helps prepare competent graduates.
