| The Department of Counselor
Education and Rehabilitation Programs is one of six departments
in the Teachers College at Emporia State University. At
the undergraduate level, the department offers the Bachelor
of Science in Rehabilitation Services degree for those students
who are interested in the human services profession.
The department also offers graduate work leading
to the Master of Science degree for students desiring to
become Rehabilitation Counselors and School Counselors.
The overall goal of the department is to prepare counselors
or helping professionals for a variety of public and private
institutions and agencies. The primary objective of the
department is to graduate students with widely based professional
skills in the helping relationships. Graduates are prepared
to work with persons in varied employment settings who have
personal, social, career, educational and leisure concerns.
The overriding purpose is for graduates to develop a high
level of professional competence so that they may be of
help to others.
Both graduate programs in the department are nationally
accredited. The School Counseling Program is accredited
by the Council for Accreditation
of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)
and the Rehabilitation Counseling Program is accredited
by the Council on Rehabilitation
Education (CORE).
The department shares Emporia State University's
vision to provide leadership in quality instruction, related
scholarship and service in a student-centered environment.
We strive to encourage academic excellence through all of
our programs in the department. |
