Communication Internships
Eligibility Requirements
Field Internship I (SP 474/475)
To qualify for Field Internship I (SP 474/475), a student must meet the following requirements:
- Have completed a minimum of 60 college credit hours
- Have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Have completed 12 hours of communication course work*
- Have completed and filed an Internship Application**
- Have the prior agreement of a Communication Department faculty member to offer SP 474/475
Field Internship II (SP 574/575)
To qualify for Field Internship II (SP 574/575), a student must have met the following requirements:
- Have completed a minimum of 75 hours of credit hours Have earned a minimum GPA of 2.5
- Have completed 18 hours of communication course work, including SP 474*
- Have completed and filed an Internship Application**
- Have the prior agreement of a communication department faculty member to offer SP 574/575
Note: SP474 and 574 are offered with a letter grade option. SP 475 and 575 are offered with a pass/no credit option. Students enrolling for SP 574 must have taken SP 474 with the letter grade option.
A student applying for either Field Internship I or II must complete a Learning Agreement before enrolling in any section of either class.
* In special cases the faculty advisor may authorize substitution of up to six hours of credit in another discipline to meet the communication course work requirement.
** The deadline for filing an Internship Application is two weeks prior to the commencement of classes.
