Rick Nida
Dr. RICK NIDA primarily teaches courses in the public relations sequence at Emporia State University. Previously, he worked at Phillips Petroleum Company, Payless ShoeSource, Inc. and Rentrak Corporation. As a public relations practitioner for more than 20 years, he directed public relations, investor relations, corporate communications and employee communications at several public companies. Earlier in his career, Dr. Nida served as an Assistant Professor and Training Associate at West Virginia University, delivering management research and training services to vocational rehabilitation agencies nationally. Also, he served as a training officer in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Captain. He received his undergraduate degree in English and speech from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia and his master's and doctoral degrees in organizational communication from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio . Dr. Nida has authored numerous articles for academic and corporate publications; has presented frequently at professional conferences; and has written several successful grant and contract proposals for funding various projects. Dr. Nida summarizes his teaching philosophy in the following sentence, "I teach young people to think critically, research exhaustively, and write and speak with aplomb and grace."
