Total Refunds for 2009 tax clinic: $505,803.00

Explanations for 2009 increased return preparation:

  1. In 2009, we expanded our clinic to Coffey County.  A community volunteer provided assistance at the Coffey County Library in Burlington.
  2. In 2009, we received IRS funding for advertising.  With the assistance of the ESU Marketing Club, we advertised in newspapers and on radio.
  3. Deloitte again provided Cintax, tax preparation software for 1040NR returns.

Explanations for 2008 increased return preparation:

  1. In 2008, we held a two day clinic at the Flint Hills Mall.  Beta Alpha Psi members prepared returns for former Tyson employees.   Interpreters were provided by a local  (Emporia) service organization.
  2. Beta Alpha Psi advertised VITA throughout the campus and within the Emporia community.
  3. Deloitte again provided Cintax, tax preparation software for 1040NR returns.  The number of international students and researchers at ESU has increased.
