School of Business - Emporia State University

School of Business Admission Requirements

  1. Students admitted to the School of Business in the Fall of 2008 and later must have a cumulative GPA of 2.35.

  2. All students taking upper-level (300+) business classes (prefixes: AC, BE, BU, FI, IS, MG, MK) must have been admitted to the School of Business. Admission to the School of Business requires the following:

    1. Completion of 51 hours

    2. Completion of the following courses:
      EG 101 Composition I* BC 103 Economics I
      EG 102 Composition II* IS 113 Intro to Microcomputer Appl.
      MA 110 College Algebra AC 223 Financial Accounting
      * Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in Composition I and II

    3. Completion or current enrollment in the following courses:
      *BC 104 Principles of Economics II *IS 213 Management Info Systems
      SP 101 Public Speaking  
      * Not required for Business Education Majors

  3. All business students who have not been admitted to the School of Business are classified as Pre-Business majors (BUP). The student’s major will be changed to the student’s choice when the student is admitted to the School of Business.
